FASTCON: Food, Ag & Supply Chain in Tech Conference

The agricultural industry in the U.S. is fortunate to have a rich set of public datasets available for analysis. These datasets span multiple areas which are critical for timely and data-driven decision making in agribusiness; everything from crop yield, animal herds, farm operations, commodity pricing, soil surveys, and more. However, the challenge of incorporating these datasets into your organizations can be a daunting one. Domain experts may rely more heavily on their own experience than on data, investments into analysis of public data may not be forthcoming, or technical challenges may limit the value realized from the data. In this session, we will take a broad look at public data sources relevant to agriculture. Additionally, we will look at a real-world business example and data pipeline leveraging the USDA Census of Agriculture.
